On Unibuddy, you can customise and/or replace the Ambassador profile fields that appear on your Buddy Cards - which includes the Ambassador profile previews seen on the Unibuddy Chat platform itself, or on your relevant Traffic Drivers - such as the Course Buddy Platform, and the Buddy Card itself.
Customising these fields allows you to highlight the most relevant Ambassador information for prospective students, such as areas of study, hobbies, interests, or unique experiences. This ensures Ambassadors are presented in a way that is engaging, relatable, and aligned with your institution’s priorities.
Why customise profile fields?
Improve connections – Make it easier for prospective students to find Ambassadors who match their academic interests or student experience.
Highlight key information – Showcase fields that matter most, like degree program, major/minor, or campus involvement.
Increase engagement – Optimised Buddy Cards can drive more conversations on your Chat or Course Buddy platforms.
How to customise your Ambassador profile fields
Log into your University Dashboard.
Head over to the Customization tab.
Select Ambassadors.
Scroll down to the Customize buddy card section.
You'll see default options already added - this is the current view of the Buddy preview cards.
Note: If you have Degree types enabled as a feature, then Option 1 would appear as “Area of study” instead of the “I come from” field .
To edit these profile fields, simply select an option from the dropdown menu for each field. The options available will also include any Custom Fields you have previously created, alongside the default fields provided by Unibuddy.
Option 4 will always be the “About me” section - this cannot be changed, re-ordered or replaced. This is so that your Ambassadors' bio is displayed.
Once you have added your new or edited fields, and ensured that they are showcased in an order you're happy with, click Save.
Your newly updated profile fields will then appear on the Unibuddy Chat platform, your Buddy Card traffic drivers, and on your Course Buddy Platform.
The updated profile fields will appear on your buddy preview cards as shown in the screenshot below.
Best Practices
Keep fields relevant and concise - only include information that adds value to prospective students.
Use consistent naming and formatting across profiles to improve readability.
Consider student filters - choose fields that help students narrow down Ambassadors they want to connect with.
Periodically review and update fields to ensure profiles remain accurate and reflective of your ambassadors’ experiences.
