Unibuddy is designed to highlight authentic student voices. That’s why the ability to upload blogs and short-form videos (up to 90 seconds) sits within the Ambassador experience: student and staff ambassadors can create videos via the Unibuddy Ambassador App and write blogs through the Ambassador Dashboard.
But sometimes, you as an administrator or staff member may also want to share content; for example:
A welcome message from the admissions team
Guidance on applications, visas, or funding
An academic’s perspective on their subject area
Spotlighting a new program, facility, or event
Although there isn’t a direct “Admin upload” option, there are two easy workarounds:
Option 1: Work with an Ambassador
You can ask a trusted Student or Staff Ambassador to submit a blank piece of Content (either a video placeholder or an empty blog draft). Once it’s submitted, you’ll be able to edit and replace the placeholder with your own Admin-curated content.
This option keeps all Content flowing through the Ambassador function, while still giving you as an Admin the flexibility to contribute when needed.
Option 2: Set Up a Staff Ambassador Profile
Alternatively, Staff can be invited to create their own Ambassador account. This allows you to directly log in and upload blogs or videos just like a Student Ambassador would.
You can even use a generic email address (i.e. admissions@....) which multiple team members have access to, to share the responsibility and creative input.
📢 PLEASE NOTE: each Unibuddy user account is tied to a unique email address. If you choose this route, you’ll need to register your Staff Ambassador profile with an alternative email (not your University Admin email address).
Which Option Should You Choose?
If you only want to contribute occasionally → Option 1 (using a blank piece of content from an ambassador) is simplest.
If you expect to post more regularly → Option 2 (creating a Staff Ambassador profile) gives you more independence and control.
The Benefits of Staff-Generated Content
While Unibuddy’s heart is student storytelling, staff-generated content adds valuable context:
It helps answer practical questions that students may not always cover
It reassures applicants with an authoritative voice on key processes
It diversifies the content mix on your platform
Together, student and staff contributions create a more holistic, helpful, and engaging experience for prospective students.
Best Practices for Staff Content
To make sure your Admin/Staff contributions blend seamlessly with student voices:
Keep it approachable → Write and speak in plain language. Avoid an overly formal or institutional tone - aim for the same warmth and relatability as your Student Ambassadors.
Stay concise → Blogs work best under ~700 words. Videos should be kept short, dynamic, and to the point (you can upload no longer than 90 seconds).
Balance authority with accessibility → Share expert information (e.g., admissions advice, funding guidance), but phrase it in a way that feels supportive, not intimidating.
Use storytelling where possible → Frame content around real-life examples, case studies, or FAQs you hear often from students.
Be visual when you can → In videos, use clear backgrounds, good lighting, and speak directly to the camera as though addressing a student one-to-one.
Complement student content, don’t compete → Let students tell the personal stories. Use your Admin team contributions to cover practicalities, opportunities, and reassurance.
