Weâre so excited to have you join your universities official Community - your hub for connecting with future classmates, finding answers, and getting a taste of life at your university or college.
Hereâs everything you need to know to get started:
1. Join the Community
Your university will invite you to join your Community. Simply click the link that they send you to join.
If you have an account with Unibuddy already, you should log into the Community rather than creating a new account - just use your login email and password.
We'd recommend joining the Community on the email address that your school or uni has invited, to pull your invite credentials across.
Download the Unibuddy app (iOS or Android), or if you prefer, you can also use Community on your desktop browser:
2. Set Up Your Profile
Make your profile your own so others can get to know you, and help you to connect with students on a similar journey. You can:
Add your nationality and area of study (this helps match you with similar students).
Share your interests in your bio.
Upload a profile photo.
Add your pronouns.
Edit your name if there is an alternative name you prefer to go by.
Whether you keep it simple or go all out, itâs up to you. You can make changes whenever you like.
3. Explore Spaces
Communities are made up of Spaces centred around topics that matter to students like you, from applications and courses to student life, hobbies and shared interests.
Spaces are all about open, supportive conversations. You can jump into live conversations or come back later. Everything stays organised through threaded conversations, so itâs easy to follow.
Youâre not alone, thousands of students are exploring, asking questions and finding their way too!
Browse Spaces and join conversations that interest you.
Search to find Spaces, posts and threads.
See a full member list for a Space and click through to member profiles
Click a personâs name/profile photo on a post to view their profile
See what other students are asking, learning and talking about.
Get real insights from people at a similar stage to you.
Ask questions, thereâs no such thing as a silly one!
Share your thoughts and experiences, or reply to others at your own pace.
Join a Space to take part, then find it again easily in My Spaces.
Request a new Space if thereâs a topic, interest, hobby or experience youâd like to see covered.
Select + Create Space and submit a proposed name, description and cover photo for your university admin to review.
Youâll receive push notifications when new posts are added to Spaces youâve joined, and also when someone replies or reacts to yours thread. In the app, you can mute notifications for new posts and thread replies if you prefer.
You can leave a Space at any time without leaving the wider Community.
4. Chat and Connect
Use your Inbox for Updates from the uni, private groups, and direct messages (DMs).
Start your own private group (for shared interests, your course, or just to plan your arrival).
Add friends to your group via their profile or by sharing an invite link.
Want to connect one-to-one? In Connect, look for students who share your area of study or from your country, and send them a DM.
5. Stay Updated
Check the Updates channel (pinned to the top of your Inbox) for reminders and announcements from your institution.
Your To-Do tab is where your school or uni will post important events, dates/deadlines, and tasks that you need to complete before you can join them.
Tip: Check your To-Do's off as you complete them to help you stay on track.
6. Staying Safe
Your Community is an exclusive hub for you to make friends and stay in touch with your offer uni.
Tap a message to report it.
If a user makes you uncomfortable, follow How to report a user in Community.
Your report will go straight through to your university admin. Donât worry, the person you reported wonât be notified.
