We’re so excited to have you join your universities official Community - your hub for connecting with future classmates, finding answers, and getting a taste of life at your university or college.
Here’s everything you need to know to get started:
1. Join the Community
Your university will invite you to join your Community. Simply click the link that they send you to join.
If you have an account with Unibuddy already, you should log into the Community rather than creating a new account - just use your login email and password.
We'd recommend joining the Community on the email address that your school or uni has invited, to pull your invite credentials across.
Download the Unibuddy app (iOS or Android), or if you prefer, you can also use Community on your desktop browser:
2. Set Up Your Profile
Make your profile your own! You can:
Add your nationality and area of study (this helps match you with similar students).
Share your interests in your bio.
Upload a profile photo.
Add your pronouns.
Edit your name if there is an alternative name you prefer to go by.
Whether you keep it simple or go all out, it’s up to you. You can make changes whenever you like.
3. Explore Groups
Your Community is full of groups designed to help you connect and settle in. You’ll find them in the Explore tab.
Join groups that interest you - from hobbies to course-related spaces.
Browse members and group info in the sidebar.
Request a new group if you have an idea (tap + New group > Public and submit a name/description to your uni admin).
4. Chat and Connect
Use your Inbox for group chats, private groups, and direct messages (DMs).
Start your own private group (for shared interests, your course, or just to plan your arrival).
Add friends to your group via their profile or by sharing an invite link.
Want to connect one-to-one? In Explore, look for students on your course or from your country, and send them a DM.
5. Stay Updated
Check the Updates channel (pinned to the top of your Inbox) for reminders and announcements from your institution.
Your To-Do tab is where your school or uni will post important events, dates/deadlines, and tasks that you need to complete before you can join them.
Tip: Check your To-Do's off as you complete them to help you stay on track.
6. Safety First
Your Community is an exclusive space for you to make friends and stay in touch with your offer uni - but if someone ever makes you feel uncomfortable:
Tap the report icon on their message, or
Report them via their profile.
Your report will go straight through to your university admin. Don’t worry, the person you reported won’t be notified.
7. Make It Yours
This is your space to:
Join groups you care about
Meet classmates before you arrive
Share experiences and advice
Have fun and feel connected 🎓
✨ Welcome to the Community - we can’t wait to see you there!
