Use this guide if...

  • You love using data to inform your decisions!

  • You want to learn how to use the new data visualization tools in your dashboard

  • You’d like to use prospect and ambassador data to drive action or change across the student enrollment journey

Our recommendations

Using Unibuddy’s data visualization tools helps you spot trends quicker, derive insight and take action.

  • Spend time playing around in your dashboard with the new filters and tools - it’s had a makeover!

  • Check out the student demographic filters at the top. They’ll allow you to slice the data in all of the charts to hone in on certain student groups. If one of your goals with Unibuddy is to diversify your student population, for example, you might use the student nationality filter to see what students from your target nationalities have been up to on your platform.

  • You’re able to combine student demographic filters with the time filter, and you can also select how granular you’d like your charts to be by using the selectors inside each chart.

    • For example, seeing how student messaging and interactions are changing monthly, rather than weekly, may help you understand how this data is trending.

  • Hover over the top right hand corner of any chart to download it as a PNG - perfect for adding to a slide deck, business case or internal update.

  • If you’d like to extrapolate a particular visualization, or change the look and feel to match your branding, download it as a CSV. You can load the CSV data into a spreadsheet tool in order to model out future scenarios or to create charts with your own custom styling.

  • Share the insights you’re seeing in Unibuddy with colleagues across your school, college, or university.

Turn your data into action

Example 1 - Respond to your incoming cohort with a diverse ambassador pool

What to do:

How to action it:

  • Look at the ‘messages’ and ‘conversations’ charts on your Analytics page.

  • Apply student demographic filters for different degree programs or nationalities.

  • As you switch between degrees or nationalities, look for those with the highest engagement.

Once you’ve identified the nationalities or degree programs with the highest engagement, you can look at the breakdown of the ambassadors who you have activated on your platform in the ‘Buddies’ management tab.

  • Mix it up: onboard ambassadors who either study or are from the same nationality as the students who are engaging most on your platform.

  • Look at the questions being asked by these demographic groups and provide your ambassadors with their frequently asked questions, and model responses to help make sure they’re ready to give the best possible experience to these students.

Example 2 - Adapt your traffic driver embedding strategy to match your recruitment goals

What to do:

How to action it:

  • Look at the ‘Sign-up traffic drivers’ chart in your analytics.

  • Use this graph to understand which of your traffic drivers are most effective at driving students to chat with your ambassadors and signing up on your platform.

  • Break down your top performing and low performing traffic drivers.

  • Use this article to optimize your traffic driver strategy.

  • Get a granular view of your traffic driver performance by implementing our lead attribution tools.

  • Take note of the sign-up engagement you’re getting, and the traffic drivers that are performing as you’re expecting against your goals.

  • Continue to use this article to optimize your traffic driver strategy.

Example 3 - Prepare for future cohorts and recruitment seasons

What to do:

How to action it:

  • Be one step ahead of generational shifts. Student demographics, needs, wants, motivations and behaviors are changing rapidly.

  • Keep a pulse on what you’re seeing to inform your future cohorts.

  • Use the expected date of entry to take a peek at what students are thinking, feeling or doing when they’re looking to arrive on campus 2-5 years into the future.

  • Apply the year of study filter to your dashboards and take note of the mix of areas of study, nationalities, and their conversation summaries and topics data.

  • Bring these insights to your next strategy conversation!
