Troubleshooting: I can't sign up, it says "You already have an existing account"

Are you creating an ambassador account, but see a message saying an account already exists?

Don't worry - we've all been there! It's easy to lose track of accounts and passwords from time to time.

The message you are seeing means that there is already an account attached to the email address that you are attempting to sign up with.

There are a couple of reasons why this might be;

  1. You do in fact already have an ambassador account

This usually occurs if you have already registered as a Unibuddy ambassador, in which case you can use the "reset password" option at: https://ambassador.unibuddy.co/inbox.

If you are using your personal email address, and you have been active as an ambassador previously on this email address at a different institution, please contact [email protected] to have your previous ambassador account deleted. Your current institution will then be able to invite you on that email address.

2. You have used this email address for Unibuddy as a student user

You may have signed up with Unibuddy previously as a student user. An email address can only be connected with one account, so you will need to have your student account deleted, in order to sign up as an ambassador on the same email address.

If this is the case, please contact the Unibuddy Support team at [email protected], and ask for your student account to be deleted.

Once your student account has been removed, you can ask your university admin/supervisor to re-invite you as an ambassador.
