Introducing the Unibuddy Ambassador Training Programme
Our structured training programme helps your Student Ambassadors get up to speed quickly, communicate confidently, and get the most out of their role - without adding anything to your workload.
How does the Unibuddy Ambassador training programme work?
Training is on-demand and self-paced. Ambassadors work through it in their own time, at their own pace, directly through the Ambassador section of our Help Centre.
Each part of the programme combines:
Informative articles covering the what and why
Short videos showing real examples of the skill in practice
Optional exercises to help ambassadors cement what they've learned
It isn't designed to take long to complete. The goal is to equip ambassadors with genuinely transferable skills, build their confidence, and make sure they have the product knowledge to do the role well - not to put them through a lengthy onboarding process.
How it's structured
Training is organised into three tiers, each made up of a few development tracks. Tracks cover everything from setting up a profile through to safeguarding, content creation, and time management. Each track includes a couple of articles, short videos, and an optional exercise.
Foundations
The essentials every Ambassador needs before they start.
Track 1 - Getting started: profile setup, downloading the app, and a tour of the Ambassador dashboard
Track 2 - Tone of voice and best practice: what makes a message land well, and what to avoid
Skills
Practical, role-specific skills for day-to-day ambassador work.
Track 3 - Time management: setting boundaries and managing volume without feeling "always on"
Track 4 - Safeguarding and reporting: recognising a concerning conversation and knowing what to do
Track 5 - Handling difficult conversations: navigating persistent or tricky prospects with confidence
Track 6 - Content creation: filming short-form video and writing articles that perform well
Leadership (optional)
For more experienced ambassadors moving into a supporting role.
Track 7 - Mentoring new ambassadors: onboarding peers, sharing what works, and building ambassador culture
The Leadership tier is entirely optional. It's up to each institution whether to encourage ambassadors to take it on.
Our recommendation
We'd strongly recommend ambassadors complete Foundations and Skills before starting their role. At an absolute minimum, they should complete Foundations.
Tracking completion
If your institution would like oversight of who's completed what, you can ask new ambassadors to return their completed exercise sheets to their university supervisor. This gives supervisors a simple way to confirm that each ambassador has worked through every development track before they go live.
