Becoming a Unibuddy Ambassador is exciting - you’ll be the friendly face (and voice!) that prospective students connect with as they make some of the biggest decisions of their lives. Here's everything you need to know to get set up, from your first invite to a profile that actually gets you noticed.
Getting your invite
Ambassador spots aren't something you sign up for directly - they start with an invitation from your university's Unibuddy Admin. Not every university partners with Unibuddy, and even where they do, opportunities can vary, so the best first step is reaching out to the relevant team at your university to find out more.
Once you've been invited, keep an eye on your inbox for the invitation email. Click the link inside it to create your Ambassador account and get started.

Building a profile that stands out
Your profile is the first thing students see, and it's often what convinces them to hit "Chat with..." and message you in the first place. So don't be shy - the more you share, the more relatable (and useful) you'll be.
A strong profile usually includes:
Personality – let your character come through
Area of study / course – what you're actually studying
Nationality – helps prospects searching for someone with a similar background
Languages – great for connecting culturally
Favourite classes – gives a real flavour of your course
Hobbies & interests – the stuff that makes you, you
You can edit your profile at any time via your Ambassador Dashboard — so if you think of something better to add later, go for it.
Your profile includes:
Field | What to know |
Photo | Just you, clearly visible. JPEG, PNG or GIF accepted. |
Full name | Only your first name is shown to students. |
City of origin | Helps students filter and search. |
Language(s) spoken | Helps students connect with you on a cultural level. |
Area of study | Choose from your university's course list - ask your university supervisor if yours is missing. |
Undergraduate or postgraduate | Your current level of study. |
Year of study | Where you're currently at in your studies. |
Favourite courses | A bit more insight into your academic background. |
Previous course or qualification | Any earlier qualifications you hold. |
Hobbies and interests | What you get up to outside of studying. |
Societies | Any societies you're part of at university. |
Your bio | Your introduction - at least 150 characters, so make it count! |
Custom fields | Your university supervisor may add extra fields depending on your university. |

Once your account has been set up and your profile is filled in, you're ready to start chatting with prospective students, sharing your experience, and giving them the kind of honest, first-hand insight no prospectus ever could. Have fun with it!
