Your Community playbook for pre-arrival

Resetting your Community for the summer pre-arrival period: results day, Clearing, and Welcome Week

Written by Amy Gray

In this session, we walk through how to refresh your Unibuddy Community for the weeks ahead - Results Day, Clearing, and Welcome Week - using a simple four-part framework: Refresh your To-Do's, Reveal new pre-arrival Updates, Reshape your Spaces (including induction, orientation, and Halls of Residence), and Re-invite students who haven't joined yet.

We also cover how to get your Community ready for Social Matching, our new peer-matching feature launching mid-August.

Watch the recording below, and use the slide deck and cheat sheet to build your own relaunch plan.

Key takeaways:

  1. Consider adding time estimates to To-Do's - either in the title or description. This helps students prioritise based on the time they have or how much energy they feel they can commit to a task.

  2. Post key pre-arrival information in your Updates channel - timelines, fresher's week schedule, what to pack, and what to expect.

  3. Ensure some staff or ambassadors are active in your Community on results day in case questions arise.

  4. Schedule time in your calendar in the pre-arrival period (5-15 minutes per week) to review your To-Do's, Updates, and think about upcoming events, tasks and deadlines incoming students need to know about.
