We’ve heard from both students and staff that using separate apps for Chat and Community, alongside differences between features on app and desktop, made the ambassador experience less seamless than it could have been.
That’s why we’re redesigning and relaunching the Unibuddy Ambassador app: creating a single, unified platform for your ambassadors to manage all of their activity.
From messaging prospective students to contributing to Community and creating content, everything now happens in one place.
One app. One login. One streamlined experience.
✨ What’s New for Ambassadors
Here’s how the updated app will make it easier for your student and staff ambassadors to engage with prospects and manage their Unibuddy tasks:
Unified app: All Chat and Community conversations in one place, ensuring faster and more efficient responses.
Community access: Ambassadors can join groups, post, and switch between Communities seamlessly.
Content creation: Students can film short-form videos that showcase authentic student life at your institution.
Prospect chat management: Open conversations are easier to track and resolve.
Transfer conversations: If an Ambassador can’t answer a question, they can transfer the chat to another student, a staff member, or an Admin instantly.
Saved Answers: Ambassadors can use pre-prepared responses to common FAQs, reducing response time and improving consistency.
Time tracking: Students can record and track their ambassador hours - including Research Time and time spent in Community - directly in the app, giving you clearer oversight.
🗓️ Launch Date
The new Unibuddy Ambassador app will be available from Monday, 8 September 2025.
If ambassadors already use the Unibuddy Ambassador app, they’ll just need to update it when prompted.
If they currently use both the Unibuddy Ambassador app (for Chat) and Unibuddy app (for Community), they’ll only need the Unibuddy Ambassador app moving forward.
New, or Community-only, ambassadors can download the Unibuddy Ambassador app directly from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
✅ What This Means for You
As a University Admin, you’ll benefit from:
Simplified management: Your students only need one app, reducing confusion and app-hopping, and ensuring consistency.
Improved engagement: With streamlined tools, ambassadors can focus on authentic conversations and creating content.
Ambassador satisfaction: Happier, better-supported ambassadors boosts productivity and retention.
📋 Anything I Need To Do?
This is a seamless change - the Unibuddy Ambassador app download links remain the same, and all ambassadors will receive prompts to ensure they are using the correct app.
Just a couple of notes to ensure nothing is missed:
If your ambassadors have been using the Unibuddy student app for Community, you will need to direct them to the Unibuddy Ambassador app and download links in any training/onboarding materials or comms you provide.
Previously, time spent in Community wasn't logged automatically in Ambassador Timesheets. With everything being combined into one Ambassador app, time spent can now be tracked across products. This means your ambassadors will be able to see how much time they are spending where, and you will be able to track their input accurately.
🔜 Coming Soon
We’re continuing to develop features that support both ambassadors and admins, including:
Editable student profiles: Ambassadors will be able to update their study details, clubs and societies, photos, and bios directly within the app.
Enriched content submissions: Ambassadors will be able to draft and submit blog posts, and upload images and attachments in-app to make their Content more engaging and useful.
💡 Why We’re Making This Change
Our goal is simple: to make it easier for ambassadors to share their authentic student experiences and connect meaningfully with prospects, while reducing friction for you. By unifying everything into one app, we’re cutting down on admin time, improving efficiency, and helping ambassadors focus on the conversations that matter.
We’d love to hear your feedback on the new Ambassador app, so we can continue to improve the experience for both students and staff.
