Recently, we undertook a very valuable project to create a universal inbox for students and prospects using Unibuddy Chat and Community - so they had a more seamless experience, with all of their messages and conversations in one place. You'll notice when you log into your Community as an admin, that you now have the same experience!

You'll now see all of your conversations from Unibuddy Chat (if applicable), and any groups and messages from your Community, in this one centralised inbox. If you have more than one community at your institution, you'll see them all listed here. You'll also see the Updates channel from your community pinned to the top of your inbox - more on that below!

What does this mean for you as a university admin?

The Updates tab πŸ“‹

Your Updates tab is now its own channel, pinned to the top of your inbox. Just click/tap the Inbox tab > click/tap Updates πŸ“£ > post as you would in any of your other public groups. Your students will also see your Updates channel pinned to the top of their inbox. All students are still automatically entered into this channel. Its new placement means more students seeing your Updates, and also means students don't see an empty inbox when they first join your community!

Why am I seeing multiple Updates channels? πŸ“£

As the inbox is now combined, if you are a member of more than one community, you'll see the Updates channels for all of those communities, arranged in alphabetical order. Don't worry, your students will only see the Updates channels for the community that they have been invited to.

Where is the Explore tab? πŸ”Ž

The Explore tab is now called the Home tab - for students, its where they'll see other people studying the same course/program, and from the same country, your Content carousel, and the public groups you've created. As an admin, you'll see the Content carousel, and your public groups. You still click/tap on public groups to opt to join them, to post messages and receive notifications.

Where is the People tab? πŸ™‹πŸ½β€β™€οΈ

The People tab is also part of your Home tab - you'll see when you visit the Home tab that its split into 'Explore' and 'People'.

How do I switch between communities? ➑️

This has been made even more user-friendly with this latest update. In your Home tab, you'll see the community you're currently in, and you can use the switcher arrows to move between communities you're a member of. This feature is exaxtly the same for students.
