Overview In the Search Setup tab (found under Assistant &gt; Configuration in your University Dashboard), you can fine-tune where the Assistant pulls its answers from on your website.

🌐 Website Starting Point – Define the main area of your website where the Assistant should begin gathering information. You can choose to keep it restricted to this area or allow it to pull from across your site.

🚫 Ignore These Pages – Exclude specific URLs or entire sections of your site that you don’t want the Assistant to use for answers (e.g. news pages or outdated content).

These controls ensure your Assistant delivers accurate, relevant answers based on your most trusted content.

This setting tells the Assistant where to begin looking for information on your website.

Go to the Search Setup tab and click ‘Edit Settings’.

Enter a valid HTTPS URL (e.g. <code>https://www.youruniversity.edu</code>)

This becomes your starting point for the Assistant’s content search.

- 🔒 Scope limited – The Assistant will only use content from the starting URL and its sub-pages.
 - Example: If you enter <code>https://www.youruniversity.edu/courses</code>, it will search only <code>/courses</code>and its child pages.
- 🌐 Scope not limited – The Assistant can pull from anywhere on your university website.
 - ✅ It will still prioritize the starting URL and its sub-pages first.

Exclude pages or sections you don’t want the Assistant to reference—ideal for content that might be outdated, irrelevant, or off-topic.

Click ‘Edit List’ under the Ignore These Pages section.

- Example: Exclude <code>https://www.youruniversity.edu/news</code> → This will also exclude:
 - <code>https://www.youruniversity.edu/news/latest</code>
 - <code>https://www.youruniversity.edu/news/studentunionnews</code>

1. Click ‘Edit List’ under the Ignore These Pages section.
2. Add up to 10 URLs to exclude.
3. Want to exclude sub-pages too? You can!
 - Example: Exclude <code>https://www.youruniversity.edu/news</code> → This will also exclude:
 - <code>https://www.youruniversity.edu/news/latest</code>
 - <code>https://www.youruniversity.edu/news/studentunionnews</code>
